Sift the flour and baking powder into a mixing bowl, add a pinch of salt
Soften the butter and add to the mixing bowl, rub in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs
Add the milk and quickly mix with a knife until the mixture forms a soft dough (the mixture should be soft and a little bit sticky). Add a little bit of extra milk if needed
Sprinkle a little bit of flour onto the baking tray
Add the dough to the baking tray and sprinkle a little bit more flour on top of the dough
Pat the dough out to approximately 2cm thickness and with a floured knife cut it into 12 even-sized pieces. Separate the scones to allow 2cm space between them
Brush the top of the scones with milk. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Place on a wire rack to cool, wrapped in a clean tea towel to keep them soft.Â
