Soften the butter, add to a mixing bowl with the sugar. Beat using an electric beater until light and creamy
Add the egg to the mixing bowl and beat until combined
Sift the flour and baking powder, add to the mixing bowl and mix with the butter until combined
Add the milk and juice from the tinned peaches to the mixing bowl and beat until combined
Spoon the mixture into the cake tin and top with the sliced peaches. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes
Remove the cake from the oven once cooked, allow to settle for 2-3 minutes and then remove from the tin to completely cool (or you can serve it warm as a dessert)
